Berkeley is home to several distinct neighborhoods and districts, each characterized by a personal style and flavor. Last Saturday, my roommate Taylor Schooley (cover girl of BARE's Issue #3 and also BARE Assistant Editor) and I took ourselves off for a little adventure to the elegant Fourth Street District (located just off University after the Freeway Exit). On the recommendation of BARE Editor-in-Chief Doreen Bloch, we checked out The Lounge, a gorgeous nail spa located on the corner of Delaware and Fourth Streets.
We couldn't have been more pleased with our treatment there--a manicure cost only $10, a total steal for the service and hospitality we received (the receptionist even recognized Taylor as cover girl!). Though there are several higher-end treatments which are certainly more expensive, the basic manicure was an fantastic treat that didn't completely empty our already drained college student pocket books.
If you have the time, Fourth Street is an afternoon excursion that shouldn't be missed! The salon does not have a website but runs at normal hours and accepts walk-ins. Enjoy!
