Lily Allen's At It!

Pop music fans and fashionistas can both agree that Lily Allen is an icon in the making. Her second album, “It’s Not Me, It’s You” debuted at #1 on the iTunes album chart during it’s first week.

Her style, along with her behavior, has been recognized as risky, fun, and always changing. This weekend, Lily took the Bay Area by storm at a sold-out performance at The Warfield in San Francisco this Saturday night. Wearing a combination of matching sequined hot-pants and jacket, black corset-top, black tights and white “trainers” (British for sneakers), Lily opened her set with an exciting light show on a white stage with giant letters behind her spelling out her name.

Her nineteen-song set included every song from her newest album, standout tracks from her first album “Alright, Still” and a couple of covers including her interpretation of the Britney Spears’ “Womanizer.” Lily was incredibly interactive with her audience; taking breaks during her set to talk about George W. Bush, her hatred of seven-inch heels, the gay population in SF, and her Twitter competition.

I was fortunate enough to meet the pop star after following her Twitter clues about where she would be personally hiding concert tickets around the San Francisco. When I saw her “tweet” saying that she was in the San Francisco Centre, I followed the clues and although I did not win the tickets, I was able to meet her and take a picture with her!

The show was amazing and energetic, and I loved that she took a risk by wearing tennis shoes with a flashy outfit; she even told the audience that San Francisco was the first time on her tour when she wore flat shoes. From this show, it was easy to see why fashion designers and fashion magazines alike don’t view Lily as just any pop star, but also a trendsetter. Her album, “It’s Not Me, It’s You” is now available in stores and on iTunes!
