FAST's Spring 2010 Fashion Show :: Spectacle, Part 1

FAST's Spring 2010 Fashion Show entitled Spectacle was definitely a night to remember, with Berkeley’s most talented showing off their creations. Here is the designer-by-designer breakdown of my favorite trends and pieces.

Maya Menon :: 2.0
She accurately describes her line as “underwear-as-outerwear, grunge-meets-glam.” This reminded me of my celebrity style report about Scarlett Johansson. One of my favorite pieces included a layered lacy skirt that was scandalously chic!

Jennifer Carr and Victoria Lim :: Dénudé
This collection also incorporated lingerie-styled pieces, among which was a backless bubble-hemmed dress. A favorite of mine was also the strapless jumpsuit with the geometric shapes detailing the front.

Julia Zhu :: Gold Lace and Arsenic
My favorite pair of pants came from this collection. I simply was crazy about the texture and print! And the cut is absolutely perfect as well.

Jennifer Kung :: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
This mod-chic collection has “girl-power” written all over it. My favorite piece was the long-sleeved one-shouldered dress. I loved the material and the fun print!

Amanda Phimmasone :: Beach Bunnies
This collection had a fun theme, with each of the models donning some cute lacey bunny ears. Definitely reminded me of cute 1970’s summer wear, especially with the bright-colored babydoll dress.

Wilson Wang :: SHIFT
With the designer himself being an architecture student, this collection brought in plenty of asymmetrical designs, met with a little purple-and-black gothic feel, and complete with scrap metal detailing.

Christine Fukushima :: Champion of the Sun
This collection definitely had me wishing I was off on an island with the color scheme the designer had chosen. Flowy, flirty, and fun, the sheer skirt was definitely something that I would want to be sashaying around in while having fun in the sun.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of the show.
