Local SF designer Anyi Lu has been nominated for the San Francisco Bay Area Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Each year Women’s Initiative for Self Employment honors women throughout the Bay Area for their business success, impact on the local community, innovation, and mentorship of other women. After a panel of business leaders reviews the nominations, the winners will be announced in August.
Former engineer and competitive ballroom dancer Anyi Lu has been nominated for this prestigious award for her innovative Italian-made footwear, which represent a combination of her technical insight and her passion for dance. When her sister was getting married, Anyi realized her sister needed a pair of comfortable shoes for her reception, spurring Anyi to create shoes that not only look great but also feel great. Made from luxurious Nappa leather and cushioning Poron, which is used by NASA, Anyi Lu shoes are both stylish and comfortable. The shoes literally conform to the foot and give the sensation of walking barefoot. Now Anyi has an entire collection of sandals, heels, and flats, all of which are high fashion and high comfort.
