Recently there has been a surge of designers trying to bring back the tacky 80s styles and make them chic. For the most part, I’m not impressed. The 80s are, for most people, a time of utter disaster in the fashion world, overrun by spandex, horrid colors, and scary shoulder pads.
Tinsley Mortimer’s new collection for the Japanese-based brand Samantha Thavasa can be applauded as a hybrid of current trends and 80s hair metal chic. Also, instead of being all rock-n-roll, the collection definitely incorporates Tinsley’s girly side.
My favorite purse, a small pink clutch, adorned with a sideways lace-up pattern and chain link strap, reminds me of something that Madonna would have definitely rocked. Go and get in touch with your inner material girl and check out the collection!
