MD:LABL came into being after Melanie De Jesus finished design school and gained experience in the fashion industry as a liaison for models with Photogenics. Finding inspiration in Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang yet bringing in her own personal style, De Jesus has taken a high fashion grunge approach to her line and works to make sure that each piece functions fully individually and also within outfits made from the rest of the line. Although there are no plans for shows featuring MD:LABL as of yet, De Jesus is already planning her Fall 2011 collection.
The photo shoot brought together an amazing team: Abby Flores, the hair stylist, has worked on incredible projects including an All American Rejects shoot for Spin Magazine. Briana Gonzales was the wardrobe designer whose work has graced the pages of magazines such as Flaunt and Penthouse. The make-up artist Genevieve Nicole has worked with HOWL Clothing and has worked at several fashion shows. Wei Shen Tan, the photographer, has shot for modeling agencies like Ford and Photogenics in addition to his personal work. Wei Shen Tan’s assistant was Zak Krevitt, an up-and-coming photographer interested in high fashion photography. Bianca is a model for Photogenics.
The photo shoot took place in Wei Shen's loft in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles and around the streets of Downtown Los Angeles for the outdoor shots.
The crew combined all their talents together to create the amazing production seen in the preview pages below!
