Fran Boogie hosted the Red Bull Thre3Style event on Thursday night.
A little rain didn’t stop 800 people from coming to check out some of the Bay Area’s hottest DJ’s at the Red Bull Thre3Style competition held at DNA lounge in San Francisco this past Thursday night.
The competing DJ’s included Solomon, Max Kane, Natalie Nuxx, Dials, Platurn, Eric Sharp, Goldenchyld, and Jeffrey Paradise. They were given fifteen minutes to rock the crowd and show the judges their skills. Judges included DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Hakobo Trevor Simpson, and DJ Shortkut. One requirement for the competitors was that they each had to play at least three different music genres. They were judged based on everything from song selection and creativity to stage presence and crowd reaction.
DJ Dials had a fun set of indie, electro, dubstep, and even some classic rock. He ended with a remix of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody."
A screen behind the DJ's let the crowd know how much time the competitors had left.
After two hours of awesome music, San Jose based DJ Goldenchyld was named the winner. DJ Solomon came close in second place and Natalie Nuxx in third. Judge DJ Jazzy Jeff ended the night with a special DJ set.
The winner of the competition: DJ Goldenchyld.
Some fans brought some homemade signs to represent who they came to support.
Events will also be held in Los Angeles and Phoenix and DJs will battle it out for two West Coast spots in the National Finals, which take place in November in Las Vegas. From there the winner will compete in the International Final held in Vancouver, B.C. Over a hundred events are being held between now and then and only eight DJs will compete for the winning title.
