This past Thursday night, I attended the Fashion Rules Party at Neiman Marcus in San Francisco’s Union Square.

Every level of the department store had an array of small events and stations. On the first floor, there was a beauty event with free hairstyling and makeovers as well as special discounts on beauty tools and products. The creator of the online fashion game, Fashionista Faceoff, Joel Goodrich, was located on the third floor, where he gave demonstrations and information on his virtual game that is also available as a Facebook application.

On the fourth floor, there was a cartoon artist talented in making caricatures of fashionable clients. The fifth floor also had free coffee and cookies, made to my heart's desire. Lastly, the event I focused on and attended was the Spring Trends Fashion Show.

A couple of dresses from the runway show.

They had a variety of dresses going down the runway, but these two were definitely the most intriguing. I loved the dress on the left with the beautiful flowing deep red and pink fabric, almost resembling large rose petals. On the right, there was a gold sheer dress with white striped details, accentuated with a metal gold belt.

Black & white, a common theme during the show.

There was a recurring theme of the color combination of white and black. I loved how many of these pieces were very versatile for spring, such as a cocktail dress, a jumpsuit, and a beautiful coat with ruffle details at the waist.

Another big theme was the use of bright colors.

More splashes of color arrived with the bright purple jersey dress and the burgundy red motorcycle jacket. Along with color, there was a shiny sequined black and white striped dress with a gold and silver clutch added for more sparkle.

Looks for her and him.

These spring trends were traditional yet unique at the same time: they displayed a blazer covered with a floral design and for men, a colored blouse paired with a blazer and a crisp white fedora for a classy look.

Overall, the Neiman Marcus Fashion Rules Party was a reserved and very polished event. It was also comfortable as we were able to walk around freely between each station throughout the store. Also, I loved how it was a small enough setting where I could get up-close and personal with the models as they walked down the runway. Neiman Marcus definitely knows how to put on a luxurious event filled with beautiful clothing for upcoming spring trends.
