Cal Street Style: Yuka

Yuka’s personal style is not only inspired by the ultimate fashion bible Vogue, but by the stylish people she sees on the streets every day at Berkeley.

First year math major Yuka defines her style as “simple and comfortable, yet cute.” She often wanders around campus in her signature tights and boots worn with a dress, or a classic pairing of a sweater and jeans. She does not limit her shopping to any one place but goes to a variety of boutiques, thrift stores, and of course the affordable yet adorable Forever21.

Wearing her heritage, both Yuka’s scarf and sweater are from a Japanese brand.

Keepin’ it simple, Yuka wears brown boots with her mostly neutral outfit, allowing her blue dress to pop.

Here she is wearing a scarf and cardigan from a Japanese brand named UNIQLO, a dress form Therapy, a bracelet from a boutique in Tokyo, Report boots from Nordstrom, and tights from an unknown source. Yuka’s fashion secret? “Simplicity. Don’t try to mix a lot of elements together. I feel like the fewer elements you use, the better. Keep everything simple and let one thing stand out.”
