Memo From the Editor: NYFW Playlist

Fashion week, to me, isn't all about the clothes or the industry favorites who sit front row. What tops my charts is listening to the runway music that accompanies the collections. It's a way for a designer to really get an idea across. Like a good accessory, the right mashup of songs rounds out a designer's vision.

That's why every season, I make it a habit to not just browse aimlessly through style.com photos, but also to meticulously watch each 15 minute show from start to finish. I have a ritual, you see, where I come home from a dreadful day at school, open a bottle of wine, and watch my favorite shows on dubbed videos with my Shazam at hand. Since I get so many requests from people asking where I get my music, I thought, 'What better way to introduce music onto the blog than Fashion Week?'

Every week until the end of Fashion Month, I'll be posting my favorite roundup of songs to hit the runway. Kicking off the countdown is New York, followed by London, Milan, and Paris! Stay tuned.

Alexander Wang: O Darci - Gaiola Das Popozudas

Thom Browne: La Goualante du Pauvre Jean

Rodarte: Everyday is like Sunday - Morrissey

Marc Jacobs: Trial 2 (Prison) - Einstein on the Beach - Philip Glass

3.1 Phillip Lim: Far Nearer - Jamie xx
