Staff Picks: Beauty Essentials

Every week, our executive staff will answer our favorites of the moment…whether it be our favorite Berkeley hangouts, our inspirations, to everything in-between! Let us know what you want to know and we'll share!

Q: What's your one beauty essential?

John Kim, Co-Editor-in-Chief: Lavender Shaving Cream Kit. It takes twice as long to shave with a brush but I find it to be a relaxing routine.

Gabrielle Elias, Co-Editor-in-Chief: Lipstick Queen from Poppy King. I inherited my love for red lipstick from my mom. Poppy King's line "Lipstick Queen" has every shade of red that you would ever need. I'm addicted.

Samantha Giordano, Editorial Director: Givenchy Printed Lips. I have a super pale complexion so this matte lip stain prevents me from looking like a corpse. It's easy and fun to use because it works like a felt-tip marker and I'm a sucker chic packaging. Unfortunately, I just discovered that it's sold out everywhere!

TT Tu, Managing Editor: La Mer Facial Cleanser. I have pretty sensitive skin, but La Mer facial cleanser seems to do the trick!

Katie Roseff, Co-Creative Director: MAC Liquid Eyeliner. Perfect for day or night and easy to use.

Jonathan Deniol Rodriguez, Co-Creative Director: Dust It from Osis. The Dust It product gives my thick hair the perfect finishing touch. It's light weight and absorbs other products giving me the ability to manage my hair in any way or shape I want.

Aimee Shimizu, Blog Editor: Clinique Chubby Stick. I swear this lip balm will not make you fat. But will it give you lips so luscious that you'll want to constantly kiss your reflection? I'll leave that up to you to decide...

Jordan Silver, Marketing Director: Shiseido Men Anti-Shine Refresher Gel. Addicted to this stuff, it's great for guys with oily skin!

Carolyn Yoo, Co-Art Director: MISSHA M Perfect Cover BB Cream. I'm lazy with makeup so an all-in-one product like BB cream is perfect for me. Just apply & set it with powder and you're good to go!

Lisa Park, Co-Art Director: Garnier Fructis Style Curl Sculpting Cream Gel. Since my perm is dying out, this creme keeps my hair nice and wavy without leaving it crunchy. It smells great too and is conveniently available at every drugstore :)
Tanya Sanderson, Events Director: Root Awakening Shampoo from John Frieda. I just started using this conditioner from Walgreens called 'Root Awakening' from John Frieda's Collection. Since I have long hair I need to use a lot of conditioner and it can be quite expensive. Root Awakening leaves my hair feeling soft, my ends repaired, and I feel a minty tingling after using!
