FAST stands for Fashion and Student Trends, which is a UC Berkeley organization that is non-profit and student run, enabling Cal students to express themselves on the runway. Students can partake in this by being a designer and creating at least three different, yet cohesive looks adherent to the general theme. Or if over 5'8, can go through the model training program and model for a student designer. A runway show is held each semester and through this Designers Mixer, anybody can get a chance to meet the student fashion lovers.
This fall's Mixer was held in the Worth Ryder Gallery of Kroeber Hall for the Rebirth themed show. DJ John Kim was spinning electropop beats that matched well with the student art gallery background. After conversing with both models and designers, I've gathered some inside scoops!
Zoe Kingsbury, a veteran model, says that all she needs is a good amount of sleep and water to be ready for the show. She's also trying a new Lush facial pack to prep this time. Adrienne Chiu, another veteran model, comes prepared on the big day with sunblock and moisturizer.
Christine Fukushima, a veteran designer, got her fabrics in LA during Thanksgiving break for prices as low as $2.50 a bound! She's gathered some fancy snakeskin, fell in love with the velvet and gold which helped her construct her holiday party looks. There are more veteran designers to look forward to tomorrow such as Jaymie Ngov, Kirstyn Hom, as well as new designers!
Be sure to stay tuned for our review of the FAST Runway Show!
